We build and scale the Physical AI to transform the agriculture, mining and material processing industries
Founded in Brazil in 2014, SpaceTime Labs was born with a mission to reinvent global industries with Physical AI that can accelerate the interrelated global energy, food/biomass and material industry transitions towards hyper-productive, decarbonized, and resilient operations that are in harmony and inspired by Nature
Our R&D labs and rapid prototyping environments are powered by multidisciplinary teams with deep expertise across artificial intelligence, software engineering and advanced robotics—all integrated into the design and build-out of frontier ventures.
Our history to date
-
2009-2011
SpaceTime Labs founders establish the Planetary Skin Institute (PSI), a Silicon Valley R&D corporation co-founded with NASA.
PSI is named one of Time Magazine’s Top Innovations of 2009.
PSI co-designs Brazil’s National Early Warning System for Natural Disasters (CEMADEN).

2015
Launches a 5-year AI innovation partnership with Raízen, the world’s largest biofuel company.
-
2016-2018
Partners with the World Economic Forum and global genomics leaders to launch the Earth Bank of Codes and the Earth BioGenome Project in Davos.
Signs multi-year AI innovation partnerships with Bayer CropScience, Swiss Re, and Yara, among others.
-
2019
Wins the EU-FINEP EUREKA competition (jointly with Vandersat) to develop a national AI platform for energy risk management.
Leads a global science and engineering consortium to co-develop an Amazon-wide Zoonotic Spillover Early Warning System.
-
2020
Enters a multi-year strategic innovation partnership with SLC Agrícola, the world’s leading corporate farming group, to co-develop, test, and scale Per Plant Farming solutions globally.
-
2021-2022
Space Time Labs spins-off two Ventures: Moray focused in the agriculture industry and Ubiratã focused in the materials industry.
-
2023
Receives a FINEP grant to advance core capabilities in artificial intelligence and robotics to revolutionize global agriculture.
Our R&D Collaborators
We collaborate with global leaders in science and technology, public–private innovation networks, and leading universities that share our vision.
The World Economic Forum was the global partner in launching the alliance between the Earth BioGenome Project and the Earth Bank of Codes—a collaboration aimed at advancing the digital infrastructure for biodiversity science and bioeconomy innovation.
The Earth BioGenome Project—a moonshot for biology—seeks to sequence, catalog, and characterize the genomes of all eukaryotic species on Earth, across land and sea.
Insper is an R&D partner, collaborating in robotics and autonomous systems and advanced manufacturing, and co-developing deeptech entrepreneurship education for the next generation of science-driven founders.
We have twice received competitive R&D awards from FINEP: one through a joint EU EUREKA/FINEP project with Vandersat to develop a national AI platform for energy risk management, and another for Project AG2PF4, focused on prototyping Per Plant Farming using innovations in AI and robotics.
