The ambitious partnership to co-develop the ENERGY RIPPLES™ platform between Brazilian artificial intelligence company SpaceTime Labs and Dutch earth observation company VanderSat was recently given a significant boost as the partnership won a highly competitive Eureka – Globalstars 2019 joint international award to build a national electricity grid risk management platform powered by machine learning and globally unique earth observation data to better manage & transfer risks and predict prices for Brazil’s evolving energy markets.
The high resolution hydrological backcasting, nowcasting and forecasting intelligence will provide much higher quality data inputs to advanced stochastic power system planning & optimization models that inform the operation of Brazil’s complex national electricity grid. In turn, these technical inputs will allow us to develop the ENERGY RIPPLES™ products and services anchored in an automated machine learning platform to develop a set of solutions for 1) monitoring of hydro-energetic anomalies of the system in near real time, 2) predicting medium and long term energy market price forecasts per energy sub-market and 3) enabling hydro-energy risk management and risk transfer through next generation energy index insurance solutions.
Our RIPPLES™ partnership combines smarter earth system science, remote sensing technologies and globally unique high resolution daily datasets from VanderSat with best in class machine learning, computer vision and business analytics technologies of SpaceTime Labs, applied to solve complex operational risk management and risk transfer problems globally in biomass, water and energy industries that increasingly define key aspects of the world economy as we know it.
